Katie Vaughn, CNM

Katie Vaughn is a Certified Nurse Midwife who strives to empower her patients through family-centered and trauma-informed care. Before becoming a midwife, Katie received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She went on to study at Emory University where she received both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing and a certificate in Women's and Gender-Related Health. Katie is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the American College of Nurse Midwives.
Katie's style of midwifery is shaped by her unique background. Her studies in Medical Anthropology highlighted the need for improved maternal health, and she believes midwives and doulas are crucial to improving health outcomes. Katie volunteered as a hospital-based doula for many years before working as a nurse in a free-standing birth center. She believes in giving patients the tools they need to advocate for themselves during pregnancy and birth, and Katie's extra training in women's health makes her a great resource for all things reproductive and sexual health.
When she's not in the office or on-call, you can find Katie at a coffee shop, doing a crossword, or catching up with friends.
