Katie Vaughn, CNM
Katie Vaughn is a certified nurse-midwife and women's health nurse practitioner who strives to care for her patients through evidence-based, family-centered, and trauma-informed care.
Before becoming a midwife, Katie received a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She went on to study at Emory University where she received both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing and a certificate in Women's and Gender-Related Health.
Katie's style of midwifery is shaped by her unique background. Her studies in Medical Anthropology highlighted the need for improved maternal health, and she believes midwives and doulas are crucial to improving health outcomes. Katie volunteered as a hospital-based doula for many years before working as a nurse in a free-standing birth center. Now as a hospital-based midwife, Katie believes in giving patients the tools they need to advocate for themselves during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. With her additional certification in women's and gender-related health, Katie is a great resource for all things reproductive and sexual health, especially for those undergoing gynecological exams for the first time and the LGBTQ+ community.
When she's not in the office or on-call, you can find Katie walking the Atlanta Beltline, hand building in the pottery studio, or enjoying an iced latte at a locally-owned coffee shop.
