Nuria Nelkin, CNM
Our practice continues to be dedicated to providing well-rounded, patient-centered, and personal obstetric care. Nuria will complement our team of providers in the office and in the care of our labor and delivery patients. Nuria has years of experience providing pregnancy and postpartum care, annual well woman visits, uncomplicated gynecologic visits, birth control counseling, pre-conception care, and also, welcoming babies into the world! She has had the pleasure of greeting more than 500 babies (including several siblings) over that time. We are proud to have her join our team here at Modern Ob/Gyn!
Nuria believes that pregnancy and childbirth is one of the most amazing and life changing experiences in a woman and her family’s life. She feels truly humbled and honored to play a role in guiding and educating during that profound transition. As reflected in the midwifery model of care, her role as a Certified Nurse-Midwife includes primarily care of routine pregnancy, co-managing complications during pregnancy, labor, and birth with physician care. As an advanced practice nurse, a Certified Nurse-Midwife is an independent provider who works in partnership with physician care to provide patients the best combination of education, empathy, low-intervention and high touch care along with the technology of intervention when necessary or desired. This model of care highly values the role of education, partnership in care, personal autonomy, and shared decision making.
Nuria is nationally certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). She is also a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). She maintains her license at both a registered nurse and Certified-Nurse Midwife in the state of Georgia. Nuria has had the privilege of being recognized in Atlanta Parent’s magazine over the last 2 years in their “Mom Approved Doctors” list. Nuria received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Tennessee and completed her Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery at Frontier Nursing University.
Nuria is also a wife and mother of two young, active boys. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, singing, reading, and exercising.
