If you have been struggling to conceive or are concerned about your future fertility, we encourage you to make an appointment to discuss these concerns with your doctor. There are many possible causes for the difficulty in achieving pregnancy, and the doctors of Modern Ob/Gyn are specifically trained to evaluate, manage, and treat certain conditions affecting fertility. Referral to an infertility specialist (REI) may be necessary, but much of the evaluation and management of infertility can be started in our office.
Conditions Affecting Fertility
Common conditions affecting fertility include:
- Irregular or anovulatory cycles
- PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Pelvic pain or dysmenorrhea
- Endometriosis
- Fibroids
- Uterine polyps
- Cervical stenosis
- Male factor infertility
- Uterine anomalies
- Blocked or occluded fallopian tubes
- History of pelvic infections
- Hypothyroidism
- Hydrosalpinx
Infertility Evaluation
Our doctors can help evaluate your fertility concerns by offering:
- Hormonal bloodwork evaluation
- AMH (Anti-mullerian hormone) testing
- Ultrasound to evaluate uterine abnormalities
- Evaluation of fallopian tubes by Femvue, an in-office ultrasound procedure
- Saline infusion sonohysterogram (also known as sonohyst or SIS) to evaluate the uterine cavity
- Referral if needed to reproductive endocrinology infertility specialists
Infertility Treatment Options
Our team of doctors, nurses, and ultrasonographers can help you achieve your goals for pregnancy by offering treatment options including:
- Surgical evaluation with laparoscopy, with treatment of endometriosis if needed
- Hysteroscopy D&C for treatment of cervical stenosis, uterine polyps, or other concerns
- Hysteroscopic resection of fibroids in the uterine cavity that may be affecting fertility
- Clomid and Letrozole management to help achieve or induce ovulation
- Treatment of thyroid disorders or other hormonal abnormalities
