Lana Wertz, CNM
Lana Wertz is a board-certified nurse-midwife who has spent the last 35 years focusing on women's health and the wellbeing of mothers and babies. Originally from the midwest, Lana attended Indiana University for her undergraduate degree in nursing and immediately began her career in a busy tertiary care hospital in labor and delivery, the newborn nursery and in postpartum. During these early years as a nurse, her love for helping women reach their personal goals in health, pregnancy and childbirth grew. After moving to the south and working with several midwives, she solidified her decision to become a nurse midwife. Lana attended Case Western Reserve University and the Frontier School of Nurse Midwifery to earn her Master's Degree in Nursing and Nurse-Midwifery.
Prior to joining Modern Ob/GYN, Lana worked as a nurse midwife in a level III hospital in Georgia where she has delivered over 3,000 babies. She has vast experience with high-risk pregnancies including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and preterm labor but is equally trained in low risk, natural childbirth and breastfeeding. She values a disciplined team approach where pregnancy is shared between qualified, caring health care providers who understand the value of a safe, healthy pregnancy from preconception to postpartum. She understands that every pregnancy is different, and that individual goals and preferences are unique to each family.
Lana's own experience as a mother of multiples enables her to give guidance and education, as well as provide compassion for the uniqueness of multiple pregnancies. Additionally, being a mother of three grown daughters affords her insight into the integrities surrounding women from the preteen years into adulthood and helping to navigate the psychological, physical and hormonal concerns surrounding these age groups.
In Lana's free time, she enjoys her family and spending time with friends. She loves being active enjoying lake life and boating, hiking, and music venues. She loves trying new restaurants and weekend getaways.
